    Day 01: Arrival in Chennai

    Upon arrival at Chennai International Airport, a representative from Shakti India Tours will receive you with a warm welcome and transfer you to the pre-booked hotel. Dinner and overnight will be at the hotel.

    Day 02: Chennai – Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram – Chennai

    After early morning breakfast at the hotel, take a day excursion to Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram. Located at a distance of 72 km from Chennai, Kanchipuram is a major tourist destination in the state of Tamil Nadu, South India. Known as the City of the Thousand Temples, Kanchipuram is known for its temple architecture, 1000-pillared halls, huge temple towers, and silk sarees. This is a holy city and an important place for both Shaivism and Vaishnavism. The city is also associated with Buddhism and Jainism. The temple attractions in Kanchipuram are Ekambareswarar Temple, Kailasanathar Temple, Kamakshi Amman Temple, Muktheeswarar Temple, Kumarakottam Temple, and Varadharaja Perumal Temple. There are other temples in the city that will grab your attention.

    After exploring the attractions and temples at Kanchipuram, proceed to Mahabalipuram. The town is best known for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the 7th- and 8th-century Hindu Group of Monuments at Mahabalipuram. The historical site has 40 ancient monuments and Hindu temples, including one of the largest open-air rock reliefs in the world: the Descent of the Ganges or Arjuna's Penance. Here you will also see ratha temples with monolithic processional chariots, mandapa viharas (cave temples) with narratives from the Mahabharata and Shaivic, Shakti, and Vaishna inscriptions in a number of Indian languages and scripts. Furthermore, visit the Short Temple Complex near the Mamallapuram shore. Enjoy the wonderful view of the sunset over the sea from the beach. Later in the evening, drive back to your hotel in Chennai. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.

    Day 03: Chennai – Madurai (by overnight train)

    Have a very hearty breakfast at the hotel and then embark on a sightseeing tour in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, South India. Visit the Government Museum and the National Art Gallery. The Government Museum or Madras Museum is the second-oldest museum in India. The National Art Gallery is also present in the museum premises. Built in Indo-Saracenic style, it houses rare European and Asian paintings of renowned artists, including that of Raja Ravi Varma. It has the richest collections of bronze idols, 500 of them dating to 1000 BCE, in Asia.

    After visiting the Museum and Art Gallery, see other attractions such as Santhome Cathedral, Parthasarathy Temple, Descent of the Ganges, Kapaleeshwarar Temple, and Marina Beach.

    In the evening, you will be transferred to Chennai Railway Station to board the overnight train for Madurai, a holy city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

    Day 04: Arrival in Madurai

    A representative from Shakti India Tour will receive you from the Madurai Railway Station and transfer you to the pre-booked hotel. Freshen up, have some rest, and enjoy your breakfast. Later, proceed for a sightseeing tour in Madurai. Visit the Meenakshi Amman Temple, also known as Meenakshi Sundareshwarar Temple. It is a historic Hindu temple located on the southern bank of the Vaigai River in the temple city of Madurai in Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Meenakshi (a form of Parvati), and her consort, Sundareshwarar, a form of Lord Shiva. The temple complex consists of several monuments inside several concentric enclosures, each layer fortified with high masonry walls. The outer walls have four towering gateways, allowing devotees and pilgrims to enter the complex from all four directions. Explore the beautiful temple complex and seek blessing from the deity. Depending on time, you can also visit Thirumalai Nayak Palace (a 17th-century palace erected in 1636 AD by King Tirumala Nayaka) and Gandhi Memorial Museum. Return to the hotel by evening.     Day 05: Madurai – Thekkady (Periyar National Park)

    Post breakfast, move towards your next destination, Thekkady–Periyar National Park. Check-in at your pre-booked hotel on arrival. Freshen up and have some rest. Later, enjoy a boat ride on Periyar Lake, which runs through the Periyar National Park. You will have a wonderful experience of wildlife viewing through the boat cruise. Enjoy watching varied birds and animals like tigers, elephants, wild boar, deer, etc at the Periyar (Thekkady) National Park. You can also visit a few tribal villages around Periyar and witness fascinating activities of tribes collecting honey from dangerous hill bees. Return to the hotel by evening. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.

    Day 06: Thekkady – Alleppey

    Have a relaxed breakfast at the hotel. Then, leave for Alleppey, a prominent destination for backwater tourism in Kerala, God’s Own Country. Upon arrival in Alleppey, you will be transferred to the houseboat floating on the backwaters of Kerala. Enjoy your evening cruising on the backwaters, passing through lakes and canals. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the houseboat.

    Day 07: Alleppey – Kovalam

    Disembark the houseboat after having your breakfast. Move towards Kovalam in Kerala. You will enjoy the copious scenic beauty on your way to Kovalam—one of the finest beach resorts in the world. Upon arrival in Kovalam, you will be transferred to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.

    Day 08: Kovalam

    Have a very hearty breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a full day at leisure enjoying the sea, sun, and surf along with some water sports at the beaches of Kovalam. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.

    Day 09: Kovalam – Trivandrum – Bangalore (by overnight train)

    Check out from the hotel in Kovalam and move towards Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala, God’s Own Country. Visit the Shree Padmanabhaswamy Temple—the richest place of worship in the world. Later in the afternoon, you will be transferred to Trivandrum Railway Station to board the overnight train for Bangalore, the capital city of the Indian station of Karnataka in South India. Dinner and overnight will be on board the train.

    Day 10: Arrival in Bangalore

    Our representative will meet you at Bangalore Railway Station and transfer you to the pre-booked hotel. Freshen up and have some rest. Enjoy your breakfast and then proceed for a sightseeing tour in Bangalore, the Garden City of India. Visit the famous parks—Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens and Cubbon Park. Further, visit the Bangalore Palace, Vidhana Soudha, Government Buildings, and other attractions. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

    Day 11: Bangalore – Mysore

    Check out from the hotel after having your breakfast and then leave for Mysore, a beautiful city in Mysore. Visit Srirangapatna, famous for the Tipu Sultan's former capital, on the way to Mysore.     Day 12: Mysore

    Have your breakfast and then proceed for a sightseeing tour in Mysore. Visit the Mysore Palace, also known as the Amba Vilas Palace. It is a historical palace and a royal residence.     Spend the morning at leisure with a relaxed breakfast at your hotel. Check out from the hotel in the afternoon and get transferred to Mysore Railway Station and board the train for Chennai. Our representative will receive you from Chennai Railway Station and transfer you to the pre-booked hotel. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.

    Day 14: Chennai – Departure

    Have a delicious breakfast at the hotel. On-time, a representative from Shakti India Tours will transfer you to the Chennai International Airport. Take a flight back to your home destination. The tour ends here.
