You will start the trip by visiting Golden Temple one of the most sacred pilgrimage places in India for Hindus and Sikhs. It is a famous pilgrimage site so be prepared to wait in a queue. The most interesting thing about this pilgrimage site is the langar that it offers to the pilgrims. Langar is the community meal and every day it offers a meal to at least 50,000 to 1,00,000 visitors. After you pay respect and eat langar take photos and then head to your next destination.

    Jallianwala Bagh

After visiting Golden Temple, we will head to Jallianwala Bagh which is 1 km around the Golden Temple. Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden in Amritsar and is known for the infamous Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. In April 1919 people had gathered at the Jallianwala Bagh for the occasion of Punjabi New Year (Baisakhi) 13th April 1919 and to protest the two leaders. On the order of General Dyer, the troop fired at the crowd for almost 10 minutes resulting in the death of 1000 people and injured more than this. To save themselves many people jumped into a nearby well and it is also said that 120 bodies were recovered from that well. The bullets marks are still visible.

    Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum

The next destination of your Same-Day Amritsar Trip will be Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, just a minute away from the Jallianwala Bagh which was the palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh but later it was converted into a museum in the year 1977. The museum features the dresses of the Khalsa Warriors, paintings, coins, miniatures, and several other weapons that belonged to the Sikh ruler. The museum also displays many paintings in the gallery showcasing the court and camp of the king.

    Wagah Border

You will be then taken to Wagah Border to see the very energetic flag ceremony performed by our soldiers as well as the Pakistanis. Wagah Border is famous for its ‘Retreat’ ceremony at the time of sunset. During the evening armed soldiers, both Indian as well as Pakistani, fully decked in their uniform enact a particularly hostile parade marked by lowering their respective flags and closing the border gates. The changing of the guards and the ceremonial lowering of the flags is carried out with great pomp and fervour.

On your way back you will find many stalls or hawkers selling phulkari, juttis, shawls, clothes, handicrafts, and scrumptious street foods. Enjoy shopping and then, Shakti India Tours Representative will drop you at Amritsar Railway station to board your train back to Delhi or onward destination.
